Gender Teller is a performative installation that works with the exploration of self-identity through the Internet, reviewing the idea of neutrality -presupposed in cyberspaces- concerning the notion of gender. By generating epistemological networks, the atmosphere relies on the imaginary of the Tarot to establish links between emerging technologies and this ancient method of knowledge. Through a personalized dialogue, the Tarot reader uses multiple pre-set online databases to determine the interventor’s gender, discovering the generation and consolidation of identity strategies in digital spaces. Thus, observing how the results are enclosed in a binary biased framework, it aims to deconstruct the cyberfeminist paradigm of the digital space as a free-of-boundaries context and to point out virtual devices as perpetuators of hegemonic power structures.
